'Cow Urine, Dung Can Give Eternal Beauty' Claims Gujarat Cow Board

AHMEDABAD:  Women should switch from using modern cosmetics to natural products - like cow urine and dung - if they want to look like legendary Egyptian queen Cleopatra, according to an advisory published by Gujarat government's Gauseva and Gauchar Vikas Board, today.

Among the recommendations of the Board, is a detailed treatment for getting rid of pimples which involves the application of 'panchgavya' - a concoction of cow urine, dung, milk, curd and clarified butter.

Recent video showing of a pair of cows being thrown over the barbed wire fence along the Bangladesh-India border has gone viral online. Images show cows being strung by their necks to a makeshift crane. Smaller to medium cows are pulled over a tall barbed fence, with a crowd of smugglers gathered on either side.

Beaten Up By Suspected Gau Rakshaks In Gujarat, 29-Year-Old Dies

AHMEDABAD: A 29-year-old man who was allegedly beaten up by gau rakshaks or cow vigilantes in Ahmedabad four days ago died of his injuries at a hospital in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Mohammad Ayyub was allegedly attacked by a group of cow vigilantes on Tuesday while he and another man Sameer Sheikh were transporting a cow and a calf, police said.

GURGAON: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said the case of double murder and gang-rape of two sisters and the police raids over allegations of beef being used in biryani in Mewat were "small issues" and could have happened anywhere in the country.

At the event to celebrate 50 years of Haryana, when Mr Khattar was asked about the CBI probe in the Mewat gang-rape case and the beef controversy by reporters, he said, "These are non-issues. I don't pay much attention to these small issues. Today we should be talking about Swarna Jayanti."

3 Cow Vigilantes Arrested For Killing 29-Year-Old In Gujarat

AHMEDABAD:  The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested three cow vigilantes for the murder of a 29-year-old Muslim man who was allegedly caught illegally transporting a cow and a calf about a week ago.

Police officials said that the three accused identified as Dhaval Bhatt, Vikramsinh Bhati and Alpesh Rabari along with four others were chasing the car in which Mohammad Ayyub and Sumer were allegedly transporting a cow and a calf on the Eid.

Gurgaons Gau Rakshaks Seek Police Protection, Arms To Take On Cow Smugglers

GURGAON:  Gau rakshaks in Gurgaon are applying for arms licenses citing threats from armed cow smugglers.

They say when they try to stop cow smugglers at night, they are attacked with arms. The vigilantes claim that they have been fired upon many times.

The head of the Haryana Gau Rakshak group, Dharmendra Yadav, said that cow smugglers work in groups of at least 10 and all of them are usually armed. He said he has been a victim of their attacks thrice and had earlier sought police protection.

Despite the fact that in Eid-ul-Azha as per Islamic rules, people give away one-third of the meat from sacrificial animals for the poor, these markets have emerged in Dhaka for two reasons.

The first is that those collecting meat from homes in the morning often do not have the means to store it for a long time and therefore sell most of it.

Picture this. You are walking by the roadside, with a cow’s leash in your hand and the car that is driving past you rolls down its windows and asks: “Bhai, koto?” (Brother, how much?) Sound familiar? Most of you must have noticed the changing trend in Eid celebrations these days, especially amongst Dhaka-ites. While the first Eid is all about hanging out at the newly acclaimed ice-cream parlours, the other is about whose cow is the most expensive; it’s a generation, a culture – or more like an entire country – trying to show off their wallets, pretending to be something they are not.

Eid is an occasion to reconnect with our higher selves, the transcendent self that exists within us to connect with the celestial and to instill at least a fragment of that celestial order in our lives. Nonetheless, in contemporary Muslim society in urban Bangladesh, Eid-ul-Azha has evolved into a social festival — and less of a religious one — that provides the middle class and the upper class with an opportunity to aggrandise their self-esteem. The days preceding the Eid-ul-Azha become a podium for self-aggrandisement which is performed and established through the comparisons made among sacrificial animals.

Haryana Beef Testing Lab Authorised 2 Days Before Biryani Inspections

MEWAT, HARYANA:  The veterinary and animal sciences university which conducted tests on biryani samples seized by the police in Haryana's Mewat was authorised by the state government just two days before the samples were sent to the lab.

New Delhi: Haryana IPS officer Bharti Arora has claimed that the money earned from cow smuggling is being used to spread terrorism across the country.

Arora has been recently appointed by the Manohar Lal Khattar government to head the police teams checking slaughter and smuggling of cows across the state.

A report published in the Hindustan Times quoted Arora as saying that cow smuggling and slaughtering is an organised crime and the money earned from these businesses is being used to promote terror-related activities in India.

PIL in Supreme Court for action against cow vigilantes for violent acts

New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking direction to the Centre and some states to take action against so-called cow vigilantes, who are allegedly spreading violence and committing atrocities against Dalits and minorities.

The PIL, filed by Congress activist Tehseen S Poonawalla, said the violence committed by these 'Gau Raksha' groups have reached to such proportions that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently declared them as people who are "destroying the society".
